Peeps on Parade

We decided to join Sarge's Peeps on Parade, but SHE is not cooperating!

First of all, SHE was actually born in Washington DC and grew up in Annandale, VA.  SHE graduated from Radford College before it became a University and became a teacher in Bath County VA.  There was a disagreement with the School Board one year and all the teachers quit.  (There were only 3 school in the whole system.)
SHE'd been bitten by the travel bug after spending her Junior year in Germany, and was curious about Australia.  Australia was importing teachers at the time.  So SHE came here and was a classroom teacher for a long time.  (To pay for her travels and scotties)  Then it was time for a change.  So she went back to Uni and became an Itinerant Teacher for integrated Blind Children.

We suppose that means some of her special skills include reading and writing braille.

SHE is now retired; but works as a casual (substitute) teacher at a small local school--only one grade each of k-yr6.

In addition to travelling, SHE loves to read...anything...and has recently acquired a Kindle because we ran out of book shelves.  SHE has tried many crafts, but loses interest once SHE can do them.....quilting, beading, porcelain doll making, reborns, knitting, pottery, hat making......quite a list.  SHE also loves going to the theatre and having coffee with friends.

We just love her....whether it's walking, snuggling, riding in the car, helping with jobs around the house.  We're always near...especially when cooking. And SHE just loves us!  Everyone says we're spoilt.

SHE has a wicked, Monty Python-type sense of humour.  And SHE loves the absurdities of life.

BUT...

She hates being in front of the camera more than we do!
So this is the only picture of her we could find.

With Daisy
SHE does really have a head everyone.

  2. First, Happy Belated Birthday, Kendra! We're sorry we missed your birthday. We've been having the same problem trying to sign in to Google Account so we can leave comments on Blogspot blogs. It's been HBO words frustrating for our technologically challenged mama.

What an interesting lady your SHE sounds like! And SHE has the most important quality of all: the passion to love and spoil doggies rotten, as God intended.

  4. Oh I am so glad you could talk HER into kinda participating in the parade. Mum wants to tell HER that it was a fairly lame effort at posting a picture!! Talk about mystery woman!!!!

Seriously tho, dad and mum drove through Dubbo and probably stayed in a spot not far from you with the RV. We were wondering where in NSW you are...now we know!! Next trip round there we will definitely have to meet and say hello!!

Another interesting point is Zoe, my cousin, came from a breeder in Dubbo and arrived in Adelaide in April last year. She had to take two planes - Dubbo-Sydney, then Sydney-Adel. We all felt sorry for such a young little pup going through all that by herself!

Anywho....keep up the good work! Tail Wuggles, Rubie.

  10. Hey Daisy!
Wow, this is a really great P.O.P. post! I really like that your mom is an American and an Aussie both! That's a twofer! My mom's family is really into pottery too and my mom used to work at a place for handicapped people so it's really great that SHE helps them out. I love that pix of SHE and you...I'm surprised that she didn't "run away, run away". Get it??

  12. What a cool background your Mom has! Our Mom was a teacher for many years too, but now she spends all her time with us and Dad and all the big biped kiddos and the little biped grandkiddos.

If we ever get a Peeps on Parade post done (nasty blogger), you won't be seeing much of any pics of ours either - they are great at using the flashy beast but don't like it turned on them - silly humans.

Thanks for the great post and we hope you are having a great weekend.

  21. SHE sounds very interesting. I think I would like HER. I, too, lose interest in most crafts once I know how to do them. But, I've stuck with knitting and I like to hook rugs but don't do it very often. Next I want to take a metal smithing class. I wonder if Glenn would build me a forge in the backyard??
