Something you'd NEVER see at our house!

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

We had to have another bath today.....and we did NOT go to the river!
On our morning walk, we went to a new, unused sports oval so we could run.
When we got home, SHE discovered that I, Daisy, was full of burrs and Bella had a few.
SHE also noticed that we were all sticky and dirty.  Just look at her finger tips after getting all those burrs out of my fur.

So it was into the laundry tub for a half bath.  Luckily whatever the sticky stuff was, it came off easily.
Even Roxy, who had no burrs, had to have a full bath because she managed to get mud splashed on her head and back!
Bella always enjoys watching the dirty water go down the drain.
Don't think we're going running on that oval again.

Weekend....river visit

It has been four weeks since our last Saturday morning visit to the Devil's Elbow.  SHE had to go somewhere one Saturday, it rained the next two, and last Saturday, we had the carpet cleaned.
Daisy
So we were very excited when we realised where we were going.
Bella
The river level is way up.  The main dam is releasing water to avoid flooding--it's about 120% full.
We walked around the track first--that's where Bella saw the calves.
The track had been graded and resurfaced since we were last there, so we didn't get bounced around driving on it.
Everybody showed up for social hour.  The big boys went swimming, but we didn't like the higher water that covered our usual sniffing area.
 There were snacks.
 Roxy annoyed her boyfriend, Jake.
 Bella grazed.
And Roxy found a smelly, dead fish to roll in.
All too soon,  we headed home for B&B (Baths and bones.)
A very satisfying Saturday.

Wacky Weekend

Thanks everyone for my birthday wishes.

Now about our weekend:
We've had a beautiful weekend weather-wise.  But we didn't do our usual Saturday morning river romp with our friends.

Instead, we got up for our early morning walk.  Afterwards, SHE started moving around furniture and stuff.  Next SHE vacuumed behind  and underneath furniture, mumbling all the time about how SHE didn't realise how dirty our house was.

Then a van arrived with hoses and a noisy motor.  It was Kevin from next door, he was cleaning our carpets.  We were banished outside.

When the noise stopped, we still weren't allowed inside,  SHE loaded us into the car and we went
to see.....
 Our friend Millie!
Roxy and Millie played war games while Bella and I inspected every part of the garden.
We all barked at the dogs next door and told them off then had wild, chasing games.
See our tongues?  Bella, Daisy , Roxy and Millie after a wild, chasing game.
On the whole, it wasn't as much fun as our usual Saturday morning social.
But, on the plus side, we didn't have to have baths!

(Our internet was off for most of yesterday and today.)

Today, we supervised while SHE put mulch over our mud patch in the garden.

Sun!!!!

Saturday and Sunday were very cloudy, but we didn't have rain.  Then Monday morning the sun came out!
In the evening we went to the Sport field to have a run.  We'd only been having dry(ish) walks on the roads for days.
And always on the lead.
Bella and Roxy raced around playing wild bitey games.

The Field Hockey teams were having practice games.
We found a soccer ball that someone left behind.
We looked in Jack, the Jack Russell's window; but he and his cat weren't outside .
We looked for our cattle dog friend, but he didn't come to the fence.

The ground was very soggy and there were lots of puddles-- we
needed a rub down with a towel when we got home.
But it was fantastic to be out, running around again!

Today is .....

 Our My second blogaversary!
Daisy ,      Roxy     and    Bella
Two years!  Can't believe it.
That's a lot of posts.
We love blogging.  We love meeting loads of other dogs, we love reading about dogs all over the US, Australia, then going to France, or Canada, or the UK....or Southeast Asia.......all that travelling and don't even leave the room.

We love all the events Blogville hosts, and how everyone chips in when there is trouble.
We love all the new stuff we've learned, like how many people are out there helping animals and how many animals out there are helping humans.
We're sad when we lose friends, either over the Bridge or because they no longer blog.
We love all your comments.
And we love all of you!
Have a treat tonight to help us celebrate!!!

What's so exciting?

Our new little neighbour, Jedda.  We think she's a poodle and about 10 weeks old.
Roxy desperately wants to play with her and was using her loud 'play-with-me' bark.
It just excited Jedda and she started doing solo zoomies.
Occasionally, she  bravely came to the fence to say hello.

This afternoon the rain started again...heavily.  But we aren't having floods like much of the east coast.
