Sunday morning.....

This morning was very foggy.  A real pea-souper.
For some reason, the gate across the access road to the river beach has been closed.

We just walk around the track, and then play with our friends in the parking/picnic area.

Our friend Flash is.....well.....very tubby (and old).  He has lost some weight, not that you'd notice....yet.

When we park next to the river, Flash's peeps park their
truck facing down the hill, so Flash can easily get
out and in.

But,  the parking lot is flat.  Flash's peeps made him a
ramp which he won't use and converted it to a step....
that he won't use.

So today, it was all hands on deck to get Flash
into the truck.

That's Flash's brother Buddy on the left.

Took a bit of hefting, but finally they got him in!

Oh....and that fog stayed around for most of the day.  And it was cold. 8.5°C/47°F.
Coldest daytime temp for us so far.
That's cold for HER and Roxy who's fur challenged.
(We only have a little electric heater and no insulation.)
The scotties have spent the day playing dog in/dog out.

Bertie's Darwin-lite Award

We are joining Bertie's Darwin-lite Award......showing that our peeps are not necessarily the most intelligent of the species.

Sorry there are no pictures......luckily, not even a mug shot.

First of all you need to understand that SHE does everything at top speed which occasionally leads to strife.
Also, SHE is not a good sleeper.

One morning, as SHE was rushing around, SHE took a Stilnox (Ambien, Zolpidem) tablet in place of a vitamin.

Driving to work as the tablet took effect... SHE remembers thinking...Go to Mr Bean and get coffee.
Turning a corner, SHE managed to hit the kerb quite hard, not only flattening the tyre, but buckling the wheel hub as well.
SHE remembers thinking.....Go to Mr Bean and Go to Max's to get the tyre repaired.

SHE also remembers getting the coffee and some men pointing to the tyre as SHE drove off.
SHE also remembers all the taxi drivers at the taxi rank pointing at her tyre.
SHE remembers waving to them and yelling
'It's okay, Max will fix it!"

SHE next remembers  an hour or so later , photocopying, when Max's wife arrived to see how SHE was.
SHE thought SHE'd managed quite well, but was told that the other workers were wide-eyed and looking worried!

Eventually, the drug wore off and it that should have been the end of the story.
However, early the next morning, SHE ran into a friend who asked if SHE'd had the tyre repaired.
SHE thought, this is a small town, but how did she find out.
SHE was told, "I was in the coffee shop when you came in saying you'd just hit something.....probably a small child on a bike....
(line from Steel Magnolias.)
SHE was appalled and said SHE was so happy that the group of police&detectives who were usually in the shop weren't there that morning.  But was told:
Yes, they were, they were pointing at your tyre!
 *  *  *  *

We could also tell you about the time SHE went half-way around the world, changing planes twice, with mismatched shoes.......but.....
(Just want you to understand why it takes THREE of us to keep HER in line.)

Overzealous...

I, Bella, always sign my pee-mail with a flourish.....

SHE says I'm overzealous.

Serene Sunday......Not!

Sunday morning, I, Dui, chased a whole herd of huge raging bulls calves through three paddocks!

(While SHE screamed and whistled to no avail.)

THEN when my mission was done and I was returning, I discovered the DELIGHTS of fresh cowpats.

(While SHE screamed and whistled to no avail.)

As I got right near the gate to come through...

I saw two pelicans in the river who needed my attention!

SHE gave up and continued on the walk.

Boy....did I have to RUN to catch up with them.

SHE couldn't get a smiling, happy photo which would have been more appropriate!

And then, SHE put me on the lead!

(While mumbling about teenage dogs and what the penalty is for chasing livestock.)

What can we say......  same thing happens here.

Foggy Friday...

After three days of this....

Friday was foggy but DRY!

Fog doesn't bother us...

We investigated, grazed on grass and played.

 Look out, Bella!  INCOMING!

We were just so happy to be out and running around!

Dui's Big Day Out......

It's me, Dui.  I'm going in the car by myself.
You should have heard Roxy's pitiful cries.....

Occasionally, I get to go and the others are left home.
It's so I don't depend on the pack too much and
have experiences.

First stop......
wait a minute.....
This isn't what I expected......

I had to sit on big tray while SHE read the numbers
and let's just say I'm a BIG boy.

Then the Vet came in.  I was VERY good, even when he poked that thing under my tail.

I am now vaccinated against all the BAD bugs for another year.....and heartworm.
We don't have rabies in Oz, so I didn't need that.

I even gave the Vet a kiss...

Next we went to see our friend Millie.

She was home alone--they don't lock their doors. We ran around inside until.....oops....I left some pee-mail on their carpet and a chair.
SHE quickly cleaned it up and we made a hasty retreat outside.
Where I left some more pee-mail.
Notice I've learned to lift my leg.  I've been leaving pee-mail EVERYWHERE.
We ran around a bit more. Then Millie went back inside and we continued to

Petbarn.
I
When we went close to this cage, look what came out
to play with me.

There were 7 of these and they all stared at me.
Someone said they were cats, but cats are big things
that run around our street.
I was a bit afraid of this thing in the cage.
It was VERY bold.
We stopped to say hi to this dog,
but he didn't like me AT ALL and rudely told me to go away.

So off we went to the freezers and got TWO bags of 'Roo tails.
Then home, where Bella and Roxy sniffed me up one side and down the other.

Bird watching....

SHE hasn't been taking the camera on our walks, so SHE missed our great bird chasing watching morning.
The first photo is an old one showing Roxy watching galahs.

We hit the mother lode the other morning:  Cockatoos, Red-rumped parrots, Galahs, Kookaburras, Little Ravens, Willy Wagtails, Ibis and Magpies.

We ran all over the fields watching those birds fly!

(Note from yesterday's post:  Bella is our main digger with a Roxy a close second.  So far Dui has been innocent.)

Some pup(s) keep pulling out the grass and eating the roots and dirt!

The gardening fork is supposed to deter them.
And some pups had better STOP!

Sunday, June 7, 2015

Sunday morning, after our river romp with our friends, all the Dog people went to a small village way out in the bush. (All dogs abandoned.)

It was a gorgeous day....warm and sunny.... so they went to a pub for lunch and sat outside.

A few years ago the village painted murals on the buildings.
These were on the pub.

This one is starting to peel.
Then they moved on to a small distillery.....sort of a shed affair....to taste infused Vodkas, Rum, Whisky and Quandong (native peach) liqueur.
SHE's a wino, so only tried the liqueur...which is VERY good.

BUT, the main attraction
was this little guy.

He welcomed everyone to HIS distillery, and kept everyone entertained.

He was very hard to photograph....expert at dodging the camera.
There was a portrait of him.

And his name?

FRANKIE!
